Changi Airport's air freight movements declined 12.1 per cent

Singapore Changi Airport's air freight movements declined 12.1 per cent year on year to 126,500 tonnes in February compared to a year ago, prompting Changi Airport Group to introduce the Changi Airport Growth Initiative, the Shipping Gazette informs.
Under the scheme all scheduled freighter flights at Changi Airport will receive a 50 per cent landing fee rebate from April 1 to December 31 and 30 per cent off after that date until April 2014.
Cargo tenants leasing Changi cargo facilities at the Changi Airfreight Centre will receive rebates based on cargo tonnage handled, up to 20 per cent of their rentals, announced the airport authority.
"Our partners in the cargo sector continue to face strong headwinds from the global economic weakness," said Changi Airport Group CEO Lee Seow Hiang. "We hope, with this support package, to alleviate their situation. We will monitor the market environment closely and work with our partners to ride through the challenging period and at the same time try to find growth opportunities in targeted cargo segments for Changi Airport."
