Changi names FedEx Express Airline Partner of the Year

Singapore's Changi Airport Group (CAG) has honoured its top airlines and presented 34 awards at the Changi Airline Awards 2013 gala evening at the Regent Hotel, according to the Shipping Gazette.
This year's Partner of the Year Award was presented to FedEx Express in recognition of its strong partnership to Changi Airport's air hub status as well as to enhance its express cargo handling capability.
FedEx opened its US$97 million, 282,700-square foot South Pacific Regional Hub last October. The hub is the first and only express transport facility in Singapore and the largest FedEx consolidated cargo facility in Asia Pacific that houses air and ground operations as well as security clearance under one roof.
Said FedEx Express Singapore managing director Khoo Seng Thiam: "This award reflects the close collaborative efforts between FedEx and CAG to support Singapore's aim to be a leading air cargo hub in the region and underscores FedEx's long-term commitment to Singapore."
The other cargo carriers in the top 10 spots remained largely unchanged, from last year with Singapore Airlines Cargo continuing to head the list with FedEx Express coming in second, followed by Hong Kong's Cathay Pacific, Taiwan's EVA Airways, Austalia's Qantas, Taiwan's China Airlines, Air Hong Kong, Korean Air, Asiana Airlines and Thai Airways International.
Said CAG chief executive Lee Seow Hiang: "You, our partners have been instrumental to this success. We are grateful to our airline partners who have supported us over the years. Your unyielding support has made Changi what it is today."
Said Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew: "The annual Changi Airline Awards celebrate the strong partnership between Changi Airport and its airlines, without which Changi's success as a leading aviation hub would not be possible."
