Tianjin Airport takes measures to develop the airport into an international aviation logistics centre

Tianjin Airport Authority has introduced series of measures that aims to develop the airport into an international aviation logistics centre in northern China with the support of Tianjin government, reports Xinhua.
Insiders say the Tianjin Airport doesn't have much of an advantage in passengers as it is next to Beijing Capital International Airport, which is increasingly saturated with freight, a situation that presents Tianjin opportunities to develop its international air logistics potential.
The Tianjin Airport plans to accelerate the building of a 200-hectare airport logistics park, optimise its customs clearance environment and enhance its freight capacity.
It also plans to expand airline networks to attract more cargo from the surrounding areas. If all goes according to plan, the airport annual throughput is expected to reach 800,000 tonnes by 2015.
The Tianjin Airport is the fourth largest international freight airport in China with international cargo taking up two-thirds of its throughput.
The municipal government intends to develop the Tianjin Airport into an international air logistics hub. Its annual cargo throughput is expected to reach two million tonnes by 2025 and four million tonnes by 2040.
The airport also will take a series measures to build its annual passenger throughput to exceed 10 million people.
