New IAG Cargo flights offer extra support to booming India pharma industry

  18.09.2013

IAG Cargo today announces increased flights between London Heathrow and Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad, offering the city’s booming pharmaceutical industry additional export capacity to global markets.
The number of flights will rise from six to seven a week, with the new daily service starting on October 27. The route will also see capacity increased by 50% with the introduction of the larger B777-200, a model which boasts increased cargo capacity of six pallets, up from the current four.
“Today’s announcement is excellent news for businesses in Hyderabad, offering customers more cargo space and schedule flexibility than ever before. Businesses in Hyderabad are always looking for ways to connect their production facilities with markets across the globe,” John Cheetham, Regional Commercial Manager for Asia Pacific and India at IAG Cargo commented.
“With over 350 destinations on our network, this is the first step in providing consistent year-round coverage for this key market and offering our customers the level of connectivity they require, helping to fuel India’s pharma boom.”
IAG Cargo is the only cargo operator to offer a daily service to Europe from Hyderabad. Customers will benefit from immediate connections at Heathrow, linking Hyderabad to the 350 destinations across IAG Cargo’s global network.
The pharma industry in India is expected to reach $35.9bn by 2016[1], with Hyderabad a key manufacturing base fuelling this growth. IAG Cargo’s Constant Climate service, a precision temperature controlled product specifically designed for the transport of temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical material, is tailor made to cater to the existing demands of this specialised industry.
