Lufthansa Systems today announced that Germanwings will be using its new DocSurf Mobile document browser with the airline’s Electronic Flight Bags from January 2014. DocSurf Mobile offers pilots a quick and user-friendly way to view manuals, enables them to benefit from new features and introduces touchscreen functionality for mobile devices. Germanwings, which is the launch customer for this application, will be using tablet computers in its cockpits in the future.
DocSurf Mobile is a browser for viewing electronic manuals and other documents for flight operations and maintenance. The application simplifies the workflow both in the cockpit and on the ground. Its fast response time makes it easier for pilots and mechanics to read relevant documents and search for and filter specific information. Revisions are clearly displayed in DocSurf Mobile, and revised documents can be compared. Personal favorites and notes relating to the documents remain in place even when a document is revised. DocSurf Mobile is available for all established tablet operating systems and browsers.
The new DocSurf Mobile application will be unveiled for the first time at MRO Europe from September 24-26, 2013 in London.
