Shandong sea port posted a 11.9 per cent year-on-year increase in container volume


Sea ports in eastern China's Shandong province posted a 11.9 per cent year-on-year increase in container volume to 14.1 million TEU, reports Xinhua.
These ports also recorded a 10.7 per cent year-on-year increase in overall cargo throughput to 787 million tonnes with foreign trade volume rising 10.8 per cent to 443 million tonnes.
The province's largest port of Qingdao lifted 10.61 million TEU, up 9.72 per cent. Its throughput tonnage increased 10.36 per cent to 308 million tonnes. Foreign trade cargo throughput grew 7.84 per cent to 212 million tonnes.
The second largest port of the province, Rizhao, recorded a throughput tonnage of 212 million tonnes, up 10.3 per cent. Yantai, the third largest port, handled 151 million tonnes, up 13.4 per cent.
The aggregate throughput of Qingdao, Rizhao and Yantai made up 84.8 per cent of the total throughput of Shandong province.
Weihai, another major port in Shandong, handled 43.05 million tonnes, up 13.6 per cent. Another port, Weifang, recorded 14.35 million tonnes, up 6.2 per cent.
In the same period, the river ports in Shandong recorded a throughput of 45.78 million tonnes, up 11.6 per cent.
