Dubai International air cargo up 1.8pc


UAE's Dubai International Airport has reported a September cargo volume increase of 1.8 per cent to 196,823 tonnes while aircraft movements increased 10.2 per cent to 30,746, according to the Shipping Gazette.
Passenger volume increased 13.1 per cent year on year to 5.4 million in September.
All regions recorded positive growth during the month, with the exception of South America, which suffered a passenger decline of 6.9 per cent.
By country, Australia was up 41.7 per cent, France up 23.7 per cent, Saudi Arabia up 22.4 per cent, Thailand up 21.8 per cent and the UK up 21.7 per cent.
Western Europe traffic took over as the top market due to robust growth, up 14.8 per cent in September with Gulf Cooperation Council states coming in second thanks to 15 per cent year-on-year passenger traffic growth.
The Indian subcontinent, which took third spot, continued to show positive growth, up 9.8 per cent due to the expansion of several Indian carriers including Indigo, SpiceJet and Air India Express.
