Emirates, Fiji Airways sign air cargo deal

Emirates SkyCargo and Fiji Airways have signed an interline air freight agreement facilitating the movement of Fijian produce and products to markets worldwide, reports the Fiji Times.
"Fijian exporters will now be able to send their exports to these markets from Nadi on Fiji Airways to Sydney or Auckland, and then onto Emirates SkyCargo's global network," said Fiji Airways CEO Stefan Pichler.
"The agreement means we now have a larger distribution and increased capacity for cargo from Fiji through their impressive global network. This will assist Fijian exporters to utilise our daily Sydney and Auckland services," he said.
Fijian ambassador to the UAE Robin Nair said he was excited to see the conclusion of the arrangement as the Fijian embassy in Abu Dhabi had been working hard to achieve the deal for fresh produce exports.
"A large importer from Dubai is ready to travel to Fiji to look at our Fijian fresh produce," Mr Nair said.
UAE Industry and Trade minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said opening up new markets for Fijian-made and Fijian-grown products was one of government's key initiatives.
"This arrangement is a big win for Brand Fiji, opening up a whole new part of the world to Fijian exporters, including small farmers who will be able to ship fresh produce to market," he said.
