Lithuania Post parcels up 46pc

Lithuania Post's volume of outgoing cross-border postal parcels increased by 46.4 per cent in the first eight months of the year, while the number of parcels from overseas that were delivered to addresses in Lithuania was up four per cent.
The volume of incoming letter mail rose by 22.6 per cent year-on-year from January to August, however, the postal operator, suffered a 9.3 per cent decline in the volume of letter mail sent to foreign destinations, reports UK's Transport Intelligence.
"The greatest impact on these results comes from growing e-commerce. Lithuania Post also cooperates with several large companies engaged in e-trade and shipping goods to various European countries via Lithuania Post," said Lithuania Post CEO Lina Minderiene.
The largest receivers of mail from Lithuania are the UK, Germany, Russia, Norway, Denmark, Ireland, Sweden, Italy, Belarus and the US.
The majority of incoming cross-border items to Lithuania are sent from Germany, the US, Belarus, Italy, Ukraine, Russia, China, Czech Republic, France and Hong Kong.
