As the exclusive "logistics partner of the German House in Sochi 2014," Schenker Deutschland AG will handle all logistics for this meeting place for athletes, the media and the political and business communities. The team from DB SCHENKER sports events is responsible for logistics management. Schenker Deutschland AG has served as the exclusive logistics partner of the German Houses at the Olympic Summer and Winter Games since the Sydney Games in 2000. Services provided for the German House range from logistics planning and transport, including customs clearance, to support in Sochi and return transport.
DB Schenker Rail, most notably Railion Russia Services, a subcontractor of DB SCHENKER sports events, is collaborating with Russian Railways to transport block trains to Sochi, where the containers for the Germany House will be transshipped at a container terminal operated by DB Schenker. One of the train transports carrying 21 twenty-foot containers packed with equipment such as two full Alpine chalets, parquet flooring and carpeting, media equipment, and all of the necessary furniture will arrive in Sochi on January 22.
The German Houses have served as the official contact point for the German national Olympic family since 1998, and have been set up at the Paralympics since the 2010 Games in Vancouver. The Deutsche Sport-Marketing agency organizes and markets all of the German Houses. Together with Messe Düsseldorf, a trade fair organizer, it is creating a quaint, roughly 700 square meter Alpine chalet atmosphere. The reception area is a solid wood chalet, which will house accreditation and the media area. Journalists will have access to workstations in the chalet and will be able to follow the Olympic events.
The Sochi 2014 German House will be open daily until 12 midnight from February 6 through 22 and will provide space for some 350 athletes and accredited visitors.
