Myanmar hosts very first international logistics meeting

Myanmar just experienced its first ever international logistics event with freight forwarders coming from all over the world to meet in Yangon to explore the local market and to build business with one another. The function was a joint function of Super Cargo Pros and Project Cargo Nexus. The event took place at the Chatrium Hotel in Yangon over three days (March 12-14).
The organizers were very pleased with the turnout for the very first of these kinds of events in the country. And there was a diverse turn out with freight forwarding companies from such far away places as Scandinavia, the United States and the Maghreb.
"With years of international sanctions at an end Myanmar has slowly been rejoining the world. Naturally, with this comes new global ties and new business opportunities. International freight should be and will be at the forefront in this aspect," said Gary Dale Cearley, Managing Director of Advanced International Networks Ltd. (AIN), the organizer of the Super Cargo Pros and Project Cargo Nexus events, "This is exactly why we wanted to shine a spotlight on this country. There is a plethora of opportunity here for those who want to find it."
"The feedback we got from the attendees was very positive," continued Cearley, "They were exited to learn about this new market and what it has to offer and they really had some great discussions together on a one-to-one basis. This is the start of many good business relationships together. Lots of freight will come out of this meeting. And that's what we are here for!"
Sponsors and presenters at the event included CargoTrans (United States), Transport Services and Logistics Group (New Zealand), Union Power Logistics (Myanmar) and Fiza Logistics (Pakistan).
The next such event organized by AIN will be their Mid-Year Muster on June 25 - 27, 2014, and will be held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Bangkok.
