Nagel-Group opened new depot near Glasgow

For several years, Scottish operations of Nagel Langdons, a company of the Nagel-Group, have been based at a shared user site in Shieldhall, Glasgow. Due to capacity constraints at the existing site and continued growth it was decided that the time was right to secure our own depot in Scotland.
In January Nagel Langdons announced the purchase of a 10.22 acre site on the Eurocentral Business Park (near Motherwell). After some conversion work, the site commenced operations on the 23rd May 2014 on schedule. The newly occupied site contains a 54,000 sq ft ambient warehouse which was converted to create a 20,000 sq/ft freezer store with all pallet access racking for up to 1500 pallets and a 20,000 sq/ft chilled cross-docking platform with 12 automatic dock levelers and capacity to handle up to 500 pallets per hour as well as chilled storage and picking locations. The property also features a two storey office block, a vehicle workshop and parking for up to 100 LGV’s. The cost of the site purchase and re-development totaled around £5.5m.
General Manager for Scotland, Malcolm Wilde comments: “Over recent years we have gradually built up our business in Scotland and now this exciting new development gives us significant additional storage and pallet throughput capacity and confirms the company’s on-going commitment to the food industry in Scotland”.
Foodstuffs made in Scotland are known worldwide. Under the brand name "Scotland Food & Drink” Government and industry have developed a unique way of working together that makes Scotland even more attractive as a location for the food sector. The Scottish food industry has set a global focus. In addition to the well-known products such as whisky and beer, Scotland is famous for many other food products: the export ranges from cheese to France, through fish and seafood for Japan to tea for China.
