Raphael Widmer is designated CFO of Stadler

As of 1 January 2017, Raphael Widmer will be the new CFO of Stadler. As the future CFO, Raphael Widmer has already taken on the position. In the coming months, outgoing CFO Hansruedi Geel will familiarise him with the role of Group CFO.
Raphael Widmer is 52 years old and lives near Zurich. He has held a number of management positions for ABB since 1991. He brings with him many years of management and international business experience.
Raphael Widmer was most recently the CFO for the Global High-Voltage segment with 8000 employees at the company headquarters in Zurich. In this role, he was responsible for a total turnover of USD 3 billion at 15 major locations in the USA, Europe and Asia. Prior to this position, Raphael Widmer was the CFO of the Downstream Oil and Gas segment at Lummus Global in the USA, and was the Country CFO of ABB in Malaysia. Furthermore, he also held leadership positions in Supply Chain Management and the Internal Group Auditing division.
Raphael Widmer completed degrees at the University of St. Gallen and at IESE Business School in Barcelona. While working, he continued his studies to become a Swiss Certified Public Accountant. Raphael Widmer is married with three children.
Hansruedi Geel (born 1956), long-time CFO at Stadler, will transfer to owner and Group CEO Peter Spuhler’s private holding company with a reduced workload at his own request at the end of 2016. Peter Spuhler extends his most heartfelt thanks to Hansruedi Geel for his dedication over the years. He adds that Hansruedi Geel has done an exceptional job over his 17 years with the company, and has always been a true companion. Hansruedi Geel has done an exceptional job at helping Stadler to grow from a company with a few 100 employees to one with around 7000.
Peter Spuhler is happy to have found an experienced and principled successor for his long-time CFO and companion. He is also pleased that Hansruedi Geel will remain involved in the holding company. Peter Spuhler wishes both men a great deal of success and all the best in their new roles.
