Dubai air cargo up 3.9pc

Dubai International posted a 3.9 per cent year-on-year air cargo increase to 1,055,850 tonnes during the first five months of the year.
In May this year alone, the airport posted a 4.6 per cent year-on-year increase to 226,916 tonnes.
Passenger numbers at Dubai International also continued an upward trend in May with 6.7 million customers, according to the monthly traffic report issued by operator Dubai Airports.
The positive data comes against a lacklustre global performance for the air cargo sector in May, noted Dubai's Arabian Supply Chain journal.
Air cargo volumes grew 0.5 per cent in May 2016, measured against the previous year's May figures, according to market data company WorldACD.
In a report released this week, the market data company noted significant diversity in performance, with the origin North America market tumbling four per cent year on year while the Middle East/South Asia (MESA) region grew four per cent.
