United's cargo revenue falls by 9.2pc in Q2 and is down 14.6pc in H1

United Airlines' cargo-based operating revenue in the first half of year amounted to US$402 million, representing a decrease of 14.6 per cent compared to the same period last year.
Cargo-based operating revenue in the second quarter ending June 30 fell by 9.2 per cent year on year to $208 million.
The US airline's total second quarter operating revenue stood at $9.4 billion, a decrease of 5.2 per cent, while its total first half revenue declined by five per cent to $17.6 billion, reported London's Air Cargo News, London.
Nevertheless, president and chief executive of United, Oscar Munoz, remarked on progress "exemplified by the best six months of operational performance in our history and we will continue down the path of unlocking United's full potential."
That "full potential" is expected to be obtainable in part as a result of a range of measures being implemented by the airline to improve future financial performance. These include "commercial enhancements, cost structure improvements and operational improvement expected to drive $3.1 billion in incremental value by 2018."
