China Airlines Cargo resumes flights to India

China Airlines Cargo has launched freighter services to Luxembourg from Delhi operated by Boeing 747-400 aircraft and in partnership with India-based Ascent Air.
The development is significant as it marks the resumption of CAL cargo services in India after a break of four years.
The Taiwanese carrier's new cargo service for India will fly to destinations in Germany, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Switzerland and UK, reported Mumbai's STAT Trade Times.
A ceremony was held to mark the resumption of CAL cargo flights in the Indian market, which was attended by AVP China Airlines Cargo, Eric Lin, and the Ambassador of Taiwan, Tien Chung Kwang, who noted India's important role in the cargo industry and also remarked on the strong and friendly relations between India and Taiwan.
According to a report released by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), India is expected to realise a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.8 per cent in international trade between 2014 and 2018, making the nation the second-fastest growing market in the world.
The "Make in India" initiative by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has boosted the country's logistics industry as demand for delivery of resources to India and merchandise out of the country has been on the rise.
