Seattle-Tacoma airport's 2016 cargo volume up 10pc

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport's total air cargo volume rose for a fifth consecutive year in 2016, rising by 10.2 per cent to 366,000 tons, according to Shipping Gazette.
The growth was attributed in part to the airport attracting four new air freight carriers last year: DHL, AeroLogic, PrimeAir, and AirBridgeCargo. Last year Sea-Tac also became the first US airport to welcome the Amazon-branded Prime Air Boeing 767 cargo aircraft into service.
Domestic air freight surged by 20 per cent year on year to 194,754 tons in 2016.
"Sea-Tac is working with the region to be a world-class airport for the community," said port of Seattle Commission president Tom Albro. "Some benefits of growth are easy to see, such as more domestic and international direct flights, more airlines and capital improvement projects to better serve customers. We are also increasing our investments in workforce development."
