Delta records slight decline in cargo revenues and traffic

Delta Air Lines saw its cargo revenues decline by 1.2 per cent year on year to US$160 million on the back of a 1.5 per cent drop off in traffic to 470 million cargo ton miles (CTM) in the first quarter.
Overall first quarter revenues fell 1.1 per cent year on year to $9.2 billion on a net income decline of 36 per cent over 2016 to US$603 million.
Average revenues per CTM in the first quarter came in at 34.04 cents compared with 34.10 cents last year, reported London's Air Cargo News.
The cargo revenue and traffic declines were both the lowest year-on-year percentage drops reported by the airline since the first quarter of 2015. And in March, the airline saw cargo demand grow 5.5 per cent year on year, representing its first monthly increase since February 2015.
