APM Terminal's Costa Rica opening delayed

APM Terminals has again delayed the opening of its Moin container terminal in Limon, Costa Rica until June 2018 as more time is needed to complete correction works, according to Shipping Gazette.
Originally, the inauguration had postponed by three months after a series of piles that will support the new platform were found to be defective, causing it to tilt irregularly.
Then the 20-metre breakwater was damaged and poor soil compaction was discovered in the 40-hectare artificial island, reported Port Strategy, of Fareham, Hampshire.
The Terminal de Contenedores de Moin (TCM) would have opened on January 18, 2018. APMT will be fined for each day's delay, with similar fines pertaining to construction delays. These will be paid to the National Concessions Council, an arm of the Ministry of Transport and Public Works.
TCM will be equipped with six quayside gantry cranes and accommodate vessels of up to 8,000 TEU.
