Sea Port Yuzhny started handling the first bulk carrier loaded with coal from the USA

  13.09.2017

The vessel “Ocean Ambitious” moored at the overloading complex of the state enterprise Commercial Sea Port Yuzhny on September 13, at 02.15. It delivered 62 000 tonnes of the thermal coal from the USA for PJSC "Centrenergo". Stevedores plan to unload the imported cargo in three days.
“The state enterprise Commercial Sea Port Yuzhny is confidently performing the mission of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine to provide the thermal power plants with coal. According to the plan, the equipment was set up at the beginning of September. Consequently, the enterprise is ready to handle four vessels loaded with coal simultaneously (total volume is over 295 000 tonnes): one vessel is for “Centrenergo”, two vessels are for DTEK and one is for Co Ltd “Euro-reconstruction”. The process of unloading bulk carriers with the anthracite coal from the Republic of South Africa proved our ability efficiently to organise the process of supplying the power station with coal promptly. I can say with certainty that we will receive and send coal as scheduled”, said Vitaly Zhukovsky, acting director of Yuzhny Commercail Sea Port.
The president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine Andriy Gunder commented on the situation: “Today we have good news, the first batch of American anthracite coal is in Ukraine. The cooperation between the member of the Chamber “Xcoal Energy and Resources” and PJSC "Centrenergo" is a significant step in the development of Ukrainian-American commercial relations.”
It will be recalled that the state enterprise Commercial Sea Port Yuzhny has unloaded more than 220 000 tonnes of the thermal coal from the Republic of South Africa for DTEK company since May.
