Alitalia deal put on hold

Chances are low that the troubled Alitalia will be sold prior Italian national elections on March 4, 2018, the Italy Industry Minister believes according to Reuters.
On February 8, 2018, the Italy Industry Minister Carlo Calenda told Italian daily newspaper La Stampa that it is unlikely to sell the struggling Italian national carrier, calling the chances of doing so “effectively low”. He also said that he will make an effort to close the deal before the elections.
Alitalia was put under special governmental administration in 2017, after employees rejected its salary and benefits. So far, Air France-KLM, Lufthansa, easyJet and private U.S. equity fund Cerberus have expressed their interest in Alitalia. This moment, all the potential buyers put their interest on hold due the unpredictable outcome of Italy elections.
