Qatar Airways ramps up Iran connections

Qatar Airways is preparing to launch on February 4 a twice-weekly direct service to Iran's Isfahan International Airport using an Airbus A320 aircraft, making it the carrier's fourth destination in the country, after Tehran, Shiraz and Mashad.
Just one month earlier, the airline will step up service frequency to Shiraz and Tehran.
Three more weekly flights will be added to the Doha to Shiraz route on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, turning the service into a daily operation from January 2. The carrier launched flights to Shiraz in 2011, reported London's Air Cargo News.
Two more weekly flights will also be operated to Tehran, with the addition of a flight on Wednesdays from January 2 and another on Fridays, starting from January 4. Qatar's flag carrier will then operate a total of 20 weekly direct flights from Doha to Tehran, a destination it has served since 2004.
The Tehran link will consist of a thrice-daily operation every day except Tuesdays, when the service will be flown twice a day.
The airline's Mashad connection, which was inaugurated in 2006, is also served daily from Doha.
"These latest launches are further evidence of Qatar Airways' commitment to Iran, as well as the expansion of our network in this thriving market to provide greater connectivity," explained group CEO Akbar Al Baker.
