Airlines for America hails new US-UK Open Skies accord

The new Open Skies air service agreement reached between the United States and United Kingdom that will enable 900,000 tons of cargo and 20 million passengers to be flown across transatlantic routes annually has been enthusiastically welcomed by Airlines for America (A4A).
"Today's announcement provides much needed certainty that when the UK exits the European Union there will be no disruption to air service for the travelling and shipping public," A4A president Nicholas Calio was quoted as saying in a report by Hawaii's eTurbo News.
"Continued connectivity also will benefit the 720,000 men and women employed by the US airline industry, who work to deliver a safe, seamless and positive travel experience to customers each day. We deeply appreciate the sense of urgency that both governments and their negotiators brought to concluding this agreement."
Ensuring that the UK market is fully open to all US airlines directly benefits customers, employees and the overall economy. A4A and its member airlines said they remain committed to working collaboratively with UK and US authorities to strengthen trade and travel opportunities globally.
