Yang Ming receives two 14,220 TEU box ships

Two new 14,220 TEU containerships chartered by Taiwanese shipping company Yang Ming have been named at Japan's Imabari shipyard. The YM Warranty and YM Wellspring are the last two ships of 20 vessels of this size.
The newbuilds, equipped with 1,000 reefer plugs, are the fourth and the fifth of the five 14,000 TEU mega ships the carrier chartered from Shoei Kisen Kaisha.
Since 2015 a total of 20 new 14,000 TEU ships have been added to the shipping line's fleet. In addition, the ocean liner will deploy its own ten 2,800 TEU ships and 14 chartered-in 11,000 TEU ships, which are scheduled for delivery between 2020 and 2022.
Both flying the flag of Panama, the newbuilds have a market value of US$95.6 million and $99.1 million each, according to VesselsValue, reported Rotterdam's World Maritime News.
They belong to the same type as YM Wellbeing, YM Wonderland and YM Wisdom which have already been received by Yang Ming.
The company maintains a fleet of 101 vessels with an aggregate capacity of 643,000 TEU.
