UK's Davies Turner says European haulage capacity meets demand

Despite a driver shortage, trucking has seldom been better with an abundance of work available, says Britain's leading independent forwarder Davies Turner.
This mirrors recent reports that available road haulage capacity in Europe is at its highest level in a decade, and now Davies Turner reports much the same good fortune.
"Our own freight volumes and market share show continued healthy growth," said Davies Turner Group chairman Philip Stephenson.
"Prices in the first quarter of 2019 were higher than in the first quarter of 2018. We are seeing a much-needed catch up in pricing, as underlying operational costs continue to increase strongly," he said.
Mr Stephenson also cited problems, a driver shortage that pushes up employment costs and increasing road tolls and fuel prices.
"One year ago European haulage capacity was very tight, especially in Germany, while now there is currently the capacity to handle demand," he said.
