CAAS collaborates with CAANZ

  10.06.2019

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand (CAANZ) to strengthen cooperation in enhancing aviation safety. The MoU will facilitate the sharing of aviation safety information, training and knowledge exchange in safety policy development through joint seminars, research projects and studies on aviation safety topics.
This MoU will also enable both parties to work towards concluding bilateral technical arrangements which will facilitate reciprocal acceptance of approvals and certificates in areas such as airworthiness maintenance and certification. In so doing, they will reduce duplication of regulatory audits and associated regulatory costs.
Director-General of CAAS, Kevin Shum said, “This collaboration with CAANZ cements the longstanding relationship between our agencies. It provides a platform for both civil aviation authorities to further enhance bilateral ties and raise aviation safety standards for our respective air transport sectors.”
Director of Civil Aviation and CEO of CAANZ, Graeme Harris said: “New Zealand sees real benefit from this partnership approach in the highlighted areas of airworthiness certification and maintenance arrangements, aviation safety information sharing, and training and knowledge exchange. Greater collaboration will enable us to share knowledge and experiences to benefit the aviation system.”
CAAS has concluded similar arrangements with Civil Aviation Administration of China, Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Australia, Department of Civil Aviation of Brunei, European Union Aviation Safety Agency, Transport Canada Civil Aviation and the US Federal Aviation Administration.
