Cosco plans to build new US$400 million container terminal at Piraeus

Chinese shipping conglomerate Cosco, the operator of the Greek Port of Piraeus plans to build a new US$400 million fourth terminal, reports Singapore's Splash 247.
A new port master plan will be submitted for approval next week, including the blueprint for the new 2.8 million TEU facility at the Mediterranean's fastest growing container terminal.
The new terminal would give Piraeus an annual capacity of more than 10 million TEU, putting it on a par with some of northern Europe's largest ports.
Cosco also has plans to dramatically change the skyline of Piraeus, adding four high-end hotels and a shopping mall on territory owned by the port authority.
