APL boosts services on Asia-Oceania network


Singapore's APL, a member of the CMA CGM Group, has enhanced its Asia Australia Express 1 (AAX1) and Asia Australia Express 2 (AAX2) services with additional port calls.
The AAX1 will add two port calls at Laem Chabang and Tanjong Pelepas to facilitate the movement of shipments from Thailand and Malaysia to the Australian main ports. Additionally, AAX2 will offer extended market coverage across Australia through additional port calls at Melbourne, Adelaide and Fremantle.
APL said in a statement that the Asia Australia Express 1 (AAX1) will make its frist departure from Laem Chabang on October 24.
The service will offer direct calls from Laem Chabang to Australian main ports with efficient transit times from Southeast Asia to Fremantle and Adelaide. Seven vessels will be deployed on the weekly fixed service, each with a capacity of 8,500 TEU.
With a 49-day rotation, the AAX1 will call at: Laem Chabang, Tanjung Pelepas,,Singapore, Port Klang, Fremantle, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Singapore, Port Klang, Tanjung Pelepas and returing to Laem Chabang.
The Asia Australia Express 2 (AAX2) will be launched on October 23 from Tanjung Pelepas. The shipping line said the advantages of the AAX2 service are direct calls to key transshipment hubs of Singapore and Port Kelang (Northbound) with efficient transit times from Southeast Asia to Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Six vessels, each with a capacity of 5,700 TEU will be used on the weekly fixed service with a rotation of 42 days.
The port rotation is: Tanjung Pelepas, Port Klang, Singapore, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Fremantle, Jakarta, Tanjung Pelepas, Port Klang and returning to Singapore.
