Korean Air Cargo adds services to Americas and cuts domestic flights

Korean Air Cargo has expanded the frequency of its services in the Americas, and suspend some domestic services at the start of October owing to low demand.
The airline has added a weekly frequency to its Incheon - Anchorage - Miami - Sao Paulo - Santiago - Lima - Los Angeles - Incheon Boeing 777 freighter service to operate it three times per week, started from August 23.
The flight out of Incheon mainly carries industrial products such as mobile phone parts, wireless communication devices, automobiles and flat panel displays, and electronic parts and aircraft engines for Brazil and the US, reported London's Air Cargo News.
On the return leg, cargo is expected to comprise mainly perishables, such as salmon, cherries, asparagus, mangoes and blueberries.
Meanwhile, local news reports suggest that Korean Air and Asiana will shelve some domestic cargo services at the start of October to help improve profits, after suffering losses in the second quarter.
The airlines said they will stop cargo services to Daegu, Cheongju and Gwangju because of low demand. Asiana is expected to only offer domestic cargo space on the Gimpo-Jeju route.
