New York-New Jersey port docks 14,000-TEUer from Asia via Suez

The Port of New York and New Jersey has docked the 14,000-TEU and 2016-built containership, ONE Ibis at the Global Container Terminal (GCT) Bayonne. The raising of the Bayonne Bridge and channel deepening have enabled the passage of ships of this size through the harbour.
ONE Ibis is operated by Japan's Ocean Network Express (ONE) and is deployed on the EC4 service that calls at ports in Asia via the Suez Canal, reported the American Journal of Transportation.
As part of a port complex of six container terminals, GCT Bayonne has modern on-dock railway systems, easy-to-access highways, and nearby distribution centres and warehouses.
Planning, investment and development have elevated the competitiveness of the port of New York and New - making it second busiest seaport in North America after Los Angeles.
