CAF publishes Ardanuy Ingeniería’s study on Electromobility in Latin America’s Public Transportation Sector

The Corporación Andina de Fomento (CAF) has published the study entitled “Electromobility in Latin America’s Public Transportation Sector”, elaborated by Ardanuy Ingeniería.
The goal of the CAF’s research work is to promote the use of sustainable, zero emissions transportation and support several cities in the region which have already begun this process. The Report is part of the “Clean Transport” line of work within the framework of the CAF’s Urban Mobility strategy.
The purpose of this report is to look for possible regulatory and financing alternatives that exist in order to replace the conventional fleet of buses which run on fossil fuels. The idea of this change is to gradually integrate electric or hybrid vehicles into the urban public transport systems of Latin America.
First off, the study analyzes the current policy framework related to favorable regulations or incentives which encourage the replacement of bus fleets at the national or local level. The study also includes a detailed review of the implementation process and the results which have been obtained up to this point in the cities of Bogotá, Quito, Montevideo and Santiago.
Furthermore, the report provides a detailed risk analysis study along with the opportunities associated with this change in model. The necessary actions and roadmap to be followed in order to properly implement this new system is also included in the report.
For Ardanuy Ingeniería “participating in the achievement of better, emission-free mobility in the main cities of South America has been a very rewarding task. In this project for the CAF, we have provided our technical knowledge in order to attain greater sustainability in the large urban centers of the region”.
