Liege Airport enrols three new partnerships

Liege Airport has announced three new partnerships - with Alibaba Cloud, Orange Belgium and Qatar Airways.
The announcements were made the airport's WeCargo event November 12-14 which brought together start-ups, air cargo experts and investors at the Belgian air freight hub, London's Air Cargo News reported.
Alibaba Cloud, the technology subsidiary of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba, has a successful AI platform and "has the skills and experience needed to transform, digitise and support our airport's operations and handling procedures," the airport announced in a statement.
Guillaume Halleux, chief officer of Qatar Airways Cargo, said the airline was pleased to extend its contract with Liege, an important airport in its network. "Liege Airport is a guarantee of future growth and we are happy to contribute to the increase of jobs in Liege region."
The partnership with Orange Belgium is an agreement to develop the Internet of Things and smart services, working together to select which cargo activities to study and to develop technological solutions.
Orange Belgium CEO Michael Trabbia said: "The logistics sector presents many opportunities to make the most of our technological expertise related to connected objects or track and trace solutions. We also welcome the opportunity to help develop this economic activity hub, which is so important for the Liege region."
