DB Schenker seeks to strengthen its new African 'Mobility Alliance'

DB Schenker has become a member of the "Pan-African Mobility Alliance" that was initiated by the German government to promote the continent's economy, reports London's Air Cargo News.
"This underlines the importance Africa has for us," DB Schenker CEO Jochen Thewes. "Economic output in Africa has grown enormously. We see a great potential in the continent. Today, with a population of 1.3 billion people in 54 countries, Africa is one of the regions with the fastest economic growth."
The alliance was set up with several goals, including maximising logistical potential and infrastructure, particularly in the automotive industry.
Said DB Schenker Mideast-Africa chief Thomas Ruelke: "Our customers are currently expanding their business in several African countries. The initiatives of the Pan-African Mobility Alliance will support and improve this development."
The company expects the greatest economic development to come chiefly from East and West Africa. Egypt and South Africa, where the company has been active for many years, will continue to play an vital role in future development.
