Port of Felixstowe winners of a RoSPA award

  11.12.2006

The Port of Felixstowe has been awarded a Certificate of Achievement at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Behavioural Safety Best Practice Awards. The presentation was held at the International Centre in Telford on 6th December 2006.

In order to be awarded this prestigious Certificate of Achievement, businesses had to show a robust health and safety management approach, taking into consideration factors such as root cause analysis, awareness raising, management and supervision, and communication and feedback.

Commenting on the award, Chris Lewis, Chief Executive Officer of Hutchison Ports UK Limited (HPUK), which owns the Port of Felixstowe, said:

“We are extremely pleased to have been recognised by the industry and to be given this Certificate of Achievement. We are very proud of our health and safety practices, and strive to constantly improve them, with co-operation from our employees. It is our aim to create a positive safety culture across the whole of our organisation.”

The Port of Felixstowe is committed to its responsibilities to create a safe working environment for its employees. Recently, a number of new initiatives have been implemented across the business, which have been instrumental in bringing about a 34% reduction in reportable accidents during 2006.
