Transnautic handles major charters for TAAG

  24.01.2007

Transnautic Aero - the cargo GSSA for TAAG Angola Airlines in Germany – has handled the latest in a series of major charters for the Angolan Government, involving the movement of a fleet of vehicles and support equipment valued at around €2.3 million.
Under Transnautic’s supervision, 14 Mercedes cars, 4 armour-plated G-Wagens for the use of the Angolan President, and 5 tonnes of spare parts and equipment needed to set up a modern automobile repair shop were all loaded onto an AN 124 freighter belonging to Antonov Design Bureau . The flight then left Munich Airport bound for Luanda.
The loading was watched by a VIP delegation led by General Delangue, Chief of the Angolan President’s Guard, Mr. Sampaio, head of the Presidential motor fleet, and Angolan Embassy Counsel Castelfranco.
The entire project including presentation and acceptance of the vehicles, and attending to the Angolan delegation, was performed by Transnautic Aero’s Munich branch Manager Martin Bodamer and his team, acting on behalf of TAAG Angola Airlines.
A few weeks earlier, Transnautic Munich carried out another major charter operation for the Angolan Government, involving the shipment of  80 tonnes of medical equipment for a hospital in Luanda. The shipment was loaded onto a Boeing 747-200F of MK airlines, which routed from Ostend to Luanda on a TAAG flight number.
Says Martin Bodamer: “We are delighted to have helped TAAG to deal with these special movements. Our expertise in planning and executing large freighter operations is equally available for any of our other airline principals, or for agents, who need to handle unusual and outsize shipments.”
During the next few weeks, Transnautic will perform a number of further freighter charters for TAAG, carrying cars to Angola.
Transnautic is one of Germany’s largest cargo GSSA organisations, representing over 20  airlines through its offices at Frankfurt, Hamburg, Dusseldorf, Berlin, Munich, Hannover and Frankfurt Hahn Airports; it. The company is one of the founding members of EGSAC, the independent GSSA network with 29 members at 60 bases in 30 countries.
