Crown Worldwide, engaged in international transportation and business information storage services, announced the opening of its first facility in the Central American country of Costa Rica. The office, which will officially open February 5, 2007, is located in the city of San Jose, the country’s capital and home to more than half Costa Rica’s population.
Costa Rica, which literally means rich coast, borders with Nicaragua to the north, Panama to the south-southeast, the Pacific Ocean to the west and south, and the Caribbean Sea to the east. It is a small country with one of the highest per capita number of expatriates residing within it, making Costa Rica an ideal location for Crown’s various services.
The Country Manager in Costa Rica is Go Mitani, who has transferred from Rio de Janeiro to head the new operation in San Jose. Go has been with Crown for a number of years, previously holding positions as Country Manager in Mexico and General Manager in Rio de Janeiro.
“Relocating from one country to another has always excited me,” said Go. “I look forward to this new opportunity in Costa Rica, for myself and for Crown.” He noted that Crown will be building its client base from the ground up in Costa Rica, literally starting from scratch. “There are so many things to accomplish in Costa Rica that every day is a new challenge, but that is what I love the most in my current position.”
This is the first facility Crown has ever opened in Costa Rica, but Go noted that Crown will be the first multinational company to conduct relocation business in that country.
Brian Valentine, CEO of Americas, stated that the expansion into Costa Rica allows Crown to continue to take charge of its own quality services from door to door by extending Crown’s reach into more countries.
“We have to continue to infuse our business into areas where we see opportunities for major growth,” said Valentine. “Out of all the possible markets we looked at in the Latin American landscape, Costa Rica was viewed as the area with the most potential.”
Valentine added that Go’s previous experience with Crown makes him the right candidate to head operations in Costa Rica. “Go is one of the most versatile and mobile members of Crown’s Latin American team,” said Valentine. “He exhibits the right enthusiasm for the role and the right attitude that comes with relocating to a new country.”
