transport logistic 2007

  12.03.2007

transport logistic is continuing to expand. In 2007, this 11th International Trade Fair for Logistics, Telematics and Transport is attracting around 1,400 exhibitors from over 50 countries. By comparison, 1,333 exhibitors took part in transport logistic in 2005. This year the organisers are again expecting over 40,000 visitors from around 100 countries. The space taken up by the fair is also expanding in line with the increase in exhibitor numbers: 86,000 square metres are earmarked for transport logistic 2007, that?s 15 percent more than in 2005
Globalisation will be a major topic in all sections of transport logistic 2007. Already in 2005, over 40 percent of the exhibitors came from abroad. This made the event even more international than ever in its scope. “In 2007 the fair will continue in this direction. Logistics is the engine behind globalisation, and transport logistic, as its leading trade fair, is its pacemaker,” said Eugen Egetenmeir, a member of the management board of Messe Munchen.
The world?s markets are growing ever closer together; all around the globe, goods are having to be delivered on a just-in-time basis. To meet this challenge, clever technologies are required, such as radio-frequency identification technology ( RFID), e-business and transport-management systems, innovative logistics solutions and sophisticated hardware from warehouse equipment to conveyor systems and trucks. transport logistic 2007 will be representing this entire logistics value-added chain, for transport by air, water, rail and road.
The largest group of exhibitors is made up of logistics services companies. In the business-to-customer segment in particular, what's required are solutions for delivering to the last mile. In the halls and on the open-air site, around 50 companies will be presenting the latest vehicles for road and rail transport.
The air cargo sector will be taking up an entire hall (A4), covering 11,000 square metres of exhibition space. At transport logistic in 2005 the air cargo display featured over 150 exhibitors from 33 countries, which was almost 40 percent more than in 2003. This year, this section is set to expand even further – to around 200 exhibitors. At transport logistic 2007 around 100 European inland and maritime ports (2005: 80) will be presenting themselves as key intersections for the worldwide transport of cargo. Among these exhibitors are Europe?s largest inland port, Duisburg, and the ports of Antwerp, Bremen, Hamburg, Le Havre and Rotterdam.
One hundred (2005: 80) national and private railway companies will be exhibiting at transport logistics. As such virtually the entire railway network in Europe will be represented. Among the exhibitors are SBB from Switzerland, PKP Cargo from Poland, VR Cargo from Finland, Rail Cargo Austria from Austria, TrenItalia from Italy, Renfe from Spain, CNCF Fret from France, Russian Railways from Russia and Deutsche Bahn. The Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies (CER) is also putting on a forum in the accompanying programme on the subject of the challenges and trends in rail transport.
New technologies to optimise the global flow of goods is also a key theme at transport logistics 2007. RFID, for example, is facing a revolutionary breakthrough in large areas of the economy. Its use could prompt a complete redesign of business processes in industry, trade and logistics. The potential for the logistics chain is enormous. 350 firms from the IT sector will be presenting their innovations at the fair.
