Arnold Witte was elected President of the International Salvage Union at the ISU’s 53rd General Meeting in Cape Town October 30-31. Arnold Witte is CEO of US salvor Donjon Marine. He succeeds Hans van Rooij of SMIT.
Arnold Witte became Vice President of the ISU in 2005. He has been a member of the ISU’s Executive Committee since 1992 and held the office of President in the period 1995-98. He is the first past President of the ISU to serve a second term.
Arnold Witte established Donjon Marine in the 1960s. As ISU President in the 1990s, he played a prominent role in the negotiations leading to the adoption of the SCOPIC salvage remuneration system in 1999. He is a Past President of the American Salvage Association and is the current Chairman of The American Club.
The ISU’s General Meeting also elected Peter Lee as Vice President. Peter Lee is General Manager of SEMCO Pte Ltd of Singapore. He became a member of the ISU’s Executive Committee in 2006.
