The impressive results were achieved due to a number of significant operational changes introduced by UTC in previous periods. First of all, the first stage of terminal development was completed in October, 2007 and two additional berths (3 and 4) equipped with 2 brand new STS cranes of Post Panmax standard were put in operation along with adjacent container yard.
Secondly, back in August UTC introduced a system of fixed berthing windows which enabled its clients to work out reliable schedules and establish direct service from South-East Asia. At this moment already several shipping lines, including Maersk Line, CSAV Norasia, China Shipping, CSCL, Yang Ming and ZIM are directly calling UTC with mainline vessels whose in-take capacity sometime exceeds 5,000 TEU.
