Situation report on Katajanokka construction projects

  08.11.2007

Present terminal building (K8) premises in the Por of Helsinki will be expanded. Renovations have been underway since April. The estimated completion date is by the end of this year.
The topping-off ceremonies for the new terminal building will be held this Friday.
The present vehicle inspection building (K9) will be demolished and the new building (K9) erected approximately 65 metres northeast of the present building.
The foundation work has already started and completion is estimated by the end of January 2008.
These changes will be accompanied by new traffic arrangements in the port.
Gate C will be relocated from the eastern edge of the port to a location some 50 metres east of it so that the harbour field can be used for vehicles queuing for ships.  Changes will also be made to the routes passing through the gates.
The new gate and traffic arrangements will be implemented in early 2008.
