Investment in continuing education for trucking agents

  15.11.2007

The Evans Network of Companies views learning as an ongoing process and an essential tool for their
trucking agents' success. This view was the driving force in the creation of Evans University, a series of employee training seminars for agents to interactively discuss and develop processes to help optimize business at their terminals.
"The topics for each seminar vary to ensure agents are always aware of the latest industry and company developments," said Albert "Bert" L. Evans, Jr., President and CEO of Evans Network.  Evans University is open for all Evans Network trucking agents to attend on a volunteer basis. Seminars are held throughout the country to make attending more convenient for agents.
"Knowledge is key," stated agent Paula Landry. "It's our responsibility to stay on top of trends in the marketplace.  In fact, it gives us an opportunity to contact customers to share new information with them,"
continued Landry. Paula and Chip Landry are Evans Network agents operating their terminal in the Philadelphia area under All Points Transport, a division of Evans Network.
"Our goal is for every agent to walk away from Evans University with powerful and new techniques that they can actually implement at their terminals," stated Bill Hohn, Vice President of Sales of Evans Network. "The
topics for each seminar are fresh, the agents are ready to learn and the information is invaluable."
Evans University also presents agents with the opportunity to network with each another. Evans Network's management believes agents working together benefits everyone. "When our agents enthusiastically engage in a spirit of cooperation they benefit from greater capacity and enhanced resources," said Hohn.
A recently held seminar covered sales at the terminal level and was attended by over 30 agents in King of Prussia, PA. Bill Hohn co-presented with John Chaya, Senior Partner of Alignment Consulting International. Another recent seminar addressed strategy and business planning and was attended by 11
agents. John Chaya presented with Kimberly Lorimer, Director of Safety of Evans Network. Upon completion of each module, a certificate or Evans University "diploma" is presented to each attendee-a recognition from Evans
that an agent is involved in ongoing enhancement of their knowledge: a valuable asset for their customer.
