International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) recently announced the appointment of Christian R. Gonzalez as the new Vice President and General Manager for its flagship, the Manila International Container Terminal (MICT).
Gonzalez was the former Director General and Chief Executive Officer of ICTSI subsidiary Madagascar International Container Terminal Services Ltd. (MICTSL).
He started in ICTSI in 1997 where he worked in various Operations departments before being appointed Assistant Manager for Special Projects of ICTSI Ltd., ICTSI’s foreign projects subsidiary. He was named MICT Operations Manager in 2003.
In 2006, he was designated Chief Operating Officer and later Chief Executive Officer of MICTSL, operator of the Madagascar International Container Terminal in Toamasina, Madagascar.
Gonzalez is a graduate of Instituto de Estudios Superiores de la Empresa (IESE) Business School, the graduate school of management of the University of Navarra, in Barcelona, Spain, where he received his Bilingual Masters in Business Administration. He is also a graduate of Business Administration from Pepperdine University in California.
Gonzalez replaces Francis M. Andrews, who will be retiring on 30 November. Andrews was the Senior Vice President and General Manager of MICT for six years. Andrews will continue his service to ICTSI as a consultant. He will initially be assisting another subsidiary, Baltic Container Terminal in Poland. Before ICTSI, he was the Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of former ICTSI subsidiary International Ports Services Ltd. in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
