On December 20, 2007, 30 40ft containers carrying auto parts for Isuzu cars were transported from the Port of Vostochny (Russia) to the station Ulyanovsk III (approach roads of UAZ plant). This is the first shipment in the framework of the long-term collaboration agreement between JSC “TransContainer” and CJSC “SeverstalAvto-Isuzu”.
“We are providing through services on car parts delivery from Japan, using our own container park. The cargo left Japanese port of Yokohama on December 10, went through the Port of Busan (Korea), and arrived in the Port of Vostochny on December 17. By the seasonal holidays the cargo will be delivered to the destination station. The total transit time is 18 days,” told Peter Baskakov, Director General of JSC “TransContainer”.
He also added that from the next year the cargoes will be delivered also to the Free Economic Zone of Elabuga to the plant owned by “SeverstalAvto” via the high-speed container trains. “In 2008 we are planning to carry more than 4.6 thousand TEUs, and in 2009 – more than 6 thousand TEUs. However the real freight volumes could be even larger, and we are already prepared for this,” – pointed Mr. Baskakov.
Peter Baskakov also informed that in the first quarter 2008 in Elabuga the own agency of “TransContainer” will be opened, and it will undertake all the transport & logistics tasks for CJSC “SeverstalAvto”. “We have already been provided the premises and I believe that no later than in March we will celebrate the opening. The agency will work not only with Isuzu, but also with Fiat project, launched in the beginning of September,” said Mr. Baskakov.
