John Paul Woodley, Jr. assistant secretary of the Army for Civil Works joins other dignitaries Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 3 p.m. for a container crane dedication ceremony at Port Manatee.
Secretary Woodley is the senior civilian in charge of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the chief administrator regarding all federal dredging projects. Secretary Woodley will be joined by Madeleine Paquin, president and chief executive officer of Logistec Corporation; Florida Department of Transportation District 1 Secretary Stan Cann and Manatee County Port Authority Chairman Joe McClash, among others. Participants will be available for interviews and photos.
Port Manatee’s new $3.9 million mobile harbor container crane represents the port’s entry in to containerized shipping. It stands 257 feet tall, weighs 460 tons and lumbers at a ponderous 3 mph on 28 wheels.
