The United Kingdom Warehousing Association (UKWA) has joined forces with leading insurance brokers, Willis Limited, to introduce an insurance package specifically tailored to meet the needs of the third party logistics sector.
The scheme, which was formally launched on January 1 2008, is designed to be competitive on price and will provide bespoke, comprehensive cover for all eventualities. It has been devised to help businesses manage their whole risk portfolio and a range of risk management advice, engineering inspection services and solutions and other service enhancements - such as claims handling information – is offered.
Joanne Locke, product development manager at Willis Limited, comments: “Willis has partnered with Allianz Insurance to offer this service and has negotiated exclusive cover and pricing with them for UKWA members using the scheme.”
Roger Williams, chief executive officer of UKWA, added: “The UKWA insurance solution is built on a strong tripartite relationship with each organisation being a leader in its field. Willis has been an Honorary Adviser to the UKWA members on insurance issues for many years and we feel that the company has the knowledge and expertise to meet the Association’s requirements. Meanwhile, Allianz Insurance employs over 4,500 staff and currently acts for over 90 UKWA members. I believe that these credentials make Allianz, Willis and UKWA uniquely placed to meet and exceed the insurance expectations of the UK 3PL sector.”
With nearly 700 member companies, the UKWA is the UK’s only trade association dedicated to serving the warehousing and logistics sector. Established in 1944, the Association’s members control in the region of 100 million square feet of warehousing space from some 1300 locations across the UK. Since 2006 the Association has embraced all companies that operate a warehousing or distribution facility and its members now include some of the biggest names in the manufacturing and retail sectors.
