Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. (HHI) delivered 11 ships in January including a 10,000 TEU containership and a 216,000㎥ LNG carrier.
Nine vessels were delivered before their contracted delivery dates.
The 10,000 TEU containership was delivered 40 days before its scheduled delivery and the world’s largest 216,000㎥ LNG carrier was delivered 20 days early. An 82,000㎥ LPG carrier, which was built using the on ground method was delivered 52 days early.
A 150,000㎥ LPG carrier for Greek shipowner Dynacom was delivered 76 days before the contracted delivery date. Dynacom donated $25,000 to the HHI’s workers’ welfare fund as a token of their appreciations for the successful completion and early delivery.
“High delivery performance in January is a result of advanced shipbuilding technology and continuous research and development. HHI has dramatically increased productivity with high dock turnover,” said Kong Chan Gon, senior vice president of HHI’s shipbuilding division.
The company’s total order backlog is 330 ships, totaling 28.3 million GT. It will deliver 96 ships this year.
