Renault Trucks will be present at this first Central European rally organised by ASO further to the cancellation of the Dakar 2008 in January, with competitors in the race itself or in a race assistance capacity.
From Budapest to Balaton Lake, the competitors will be driving some 3,000km in what will, on occasions, be difficult conditions on paths and tracks which, although very unlike the desert sands, will undoubtedly occasionally challenge the skills of all the competitors involved.
Renault Trucks has been active in Hungary and Romania for several years now. The two subsidiaries are constantly increasing sales and market share in both countries.
In 2007, 1,131 vehicles were sold in Romania, reflecting a market share of 12%. In Hungary, the brand sold 731 vehicles for a market share of 10%.
Forecasts for 2008 are optimistic and Renault Trucks is expected to improve its performance still further in these two countries and in particularly in Romania, where growth was already 30% in 2008.
