Conference program for IFLN meeting in Kuala Lumpur announced

IFLN’s 15th Annual Conference will be held between the 1st and 4th of June at Kuala Lumpur’s Shangri-la Hotel, one of the most luxurious in Kuala Lumpur, ideally located in the center of the city’s commercial district.
The program will be structured differently than in the past giving Members ample opportunity to interact with colleagues from the Network’s offices across 80 countries.  There will be a large increase in the number of one-to-one meeting sessions and networking forums.
In addition, a conference agenda featuring experts on Southeast Asian regional issues will adequately inform Members through topical presentations.
Dato Cheah Kong Wai, the Director General of Malaysia’s Maritime Institute will provide the Conference with an overview of the economic and trade prospects of the Southeast Asian region in comparison with the other large Asian markets.  He will also outline the major port and infrastructure developments in Malaysia with particular emphasis on the competitiveness of its container, break-bulk and heavy lift handling capabilities.
Also headlining at the Conference will be Mohamed Ynus Idris of Malaysian Airlines MASkargo, who will present the unique freight carrying and processing abilities of the carrier.  He will highlight how the relationship between IFLN and MASkargo can mature into a mutually beneficial partnership enhancing both groups’ services to their end-user customers.
IFLN President, Michel Vanlerberghe is particularly pleased about how the new program responds to his Members stated preferences.  “We believe that the new conference structure will give more time for Members and delegates to get to know each other and to do business together – which, after all is the prime benefit of our meetings around the world”, he said.
Vanlerberghe added, “This year we will only be holding one conference, as opposed to two in previous years.  This event is expected to be one of our biggest conferences, so it is important that all Members have delegates attending to maximize the benefits.”
The event will start on Sunday (1st June) with a golf outing at the Tropicana, one of Kuala Lumpur’s most renowned golf courses, and also with a popular suburban city tour followed by the traditional IFLN welcoming and networking events on Sunday night.  The Conference proper will commence on Monday 2nd June with a morning session of speaker presentations, including that by the Malaysian Maritime Institute and MASkargo.  One-to-one meetings will be held in the afternoon and will close the day with a dinner and entertainment event at the “Bijan” the finest and renowned Malay restaurant.
Tuesday 3rd June will consist of a full day of one-to-one meetings.  Wednesday 4th June will commence with a series of workshops and the afternoon will be devoted to more one-to-one meetings, followed by a post-conference cocktail and closure.
