Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) dispatched 19 excavators and operators to the Sichuan province. The excavators, manufactured by HHI overseas subsidiaries in Beijing and Jiangsu, will be used in the emergency relief efforts in the worst hit areas of Wenchuan, in the Sichuan province. HHI is also supplying technical support for equipment repair and maintenance.
“The rescue efforts are facing troubles due to a lack of equipment and manpower. It looks like a war zone, and they do not have enough resources to save all the lives that they could. All companies operating in China should do everything they can to help rescue the survivors,” said an HHI spokesperson.
HHI hopes that the excavators will help aid the emergency relief efforts in China. The company is closely following the rescue operations and is considering additional ways to provide support.
