The Finnish truck manufacturer Sisu Auto Trucks Oy has won an international tender for Timber Trucks to Ust Ilimsk, Russia.
The biggest international forestry organization in Russia OJSC Ilim Group and Sisu Auto have signed a contract for delivering 91 SISU E13M 6x4 timber trucks and trailers to the Ust Ilimsk factory, located in Irkutsk region. The trucks will be operating in wood supply operation for the Pulp mill of Ilim Group.
This is the biggest individual contract for delivering western timber trucks to Russia. The trucks will be manufactured in Sisu Auto’s factory, located in Karjaa, Finland. The deliveries will be done during autumn 2008.
- This contract is Sisu Auto’s biggest individual contract in Russia and a result of our strategy to invest in the Russian market, states Sisu Auto’s Managing Director Mr Olof Elenius.
In forest resources, Ilim Group is the biggest in Europe. It is also the third biggest pulp producer in Europe. Elenius states that by selecting Sisu Auto as the supplier for their timber trucks, Ilim Group proves their trust for Sisu Auto’s ability to operate also in extreme conditions.
This contract will also be an important reference for Sisu Auto in Russia, states Export Director Viljo Mettälä.
The equipment ordered by Ilim Group is E13M Timber series. The trucks are equipped with 13 litres Caterpillar C-13, Euro 3 engines and non-synchronized Fuller gearbox. The trucks and trailers will be delivered, factory ready, complete combinations.
The contract includes also extensive training, service and spare parts . Sisu Auto’s partner in these arrangements will be OOO Lestroi, which will be organizing the service in Ust Ilimsk.
The trucks delivered to Ilim Group are continuation for Sisu Auto’s exports to Russia. During the last year Sisu Auto has delivered about 100 timber trucks to Russia. Almost half of these trucks were delivered to Kondupoga paper factory in Karelian region.
